UNCLE VANYA
There’s something about “Uncle Vanya” right now: “It’s a scene that Anton Chekhov might have written if he were around today: New Yorkers, frenzied with excitement at the prospect of not one, but two must-see productions of his 1897 masterpiece playing simultaneously, make a madcap rush to buy tickets, only to discover one is sold out and the other is going fast,” reports Vogue. The point being? Do your best to catch Sam Gold’s staging of Annie Baker’s fresh adaptation at the Soho Rep (through August 26) or the Sydney Theatre Company’s production starring the Cate Blanchett, ending July 28.
Just saw this.
